• From Ichiro achieves multiple milestones: Outfielder gets sixth straight 200-hit season, sets steals mark:

  Willie Keeler holds the Major League record with eight straight 200-hit seasons from 1989-1901. Wade Boggs holds the American League record with seven consecutive 200-hit seasons from 1983-89.

  1989-1901? Did nobody else catch this? Or that that is a lot longer than 8 years? The answer is eight years from 1894-1901. You're welcome MLB.com!
  
• A's, alcohol ban leave Guillen in grumpy mood: ChiSox manager upset by postgame beer ban, rips Oakland G.M. after loss. Best line of the article:

  When Ozzie Guillen learned that alcohol is banned after games in the Coliseum clubhouses these days, the Chicago White Sox manager responded with profanity and anger.

• Pedro Martinez near tears when his return fails to bring his team a glorious clinching of the NL East pennant. I know they don't technically call it a pennant, but whatever.
• My baseball pools are not going well: I'm not 0-10-2 anymore, but after climbing to 3-7-2 yesterday I'm back to 1-9-2 going into today's games. Go Derek Jeter! In my other leagues, the Edmonton Separatists are clinging to a 5-4-1 lead (pitching looks a near-lock, but desperately need to break the wins tie and get the RBIs into a safer lead); the Alberta Mariners are struggling hardcore, down 2-7-0 with two stolen bases to the opponents one and 0.03 lead in average (no chance of catching up in pitching).
• Manny Ramirez sitting out because of an actual injury!
