@Squidbidness - Rachel Arab remains ignorant of diverse other cultures

A large anti-lockdown march held in February with torches, you say?

It's funny, when Edmonton held one, morons on the left absolutely lost their shit.
Professor Temitope Oriola says he isn't surprised.

"This is becoming a pattern," the U of A criminologist told CTV News Edmonton. "A pattern of citizens hiding under the guise of an anti-mask campaign, taking to the streets, bringing out symbols of hatred like tiki torches."

Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson, while citing that many who took part in the rally may not have been from our city, said he was appalled to see the burning torches.

"A tiki torch is not an official symbol of hate," he said. "But I think after what happened in Charlottesville in the United States, people see it for what it is."
Mayor Coward is just doing his usual woke shtick, but shouldn't Oriola try learning what superior white cultures actually do? Isn't that a basic of scholarship? And it's Denmark, for Christ's sake! The progressives always yammer on about Denmark, so why do they seem to know so little about it?
NDP and Official Opposition Leader Rachel Notley -- who criticized on Saturday some of the symbols seen on the legislature grounds -- was quick to condemn the premier's statement.

“While acknowledging certain elements of the racism at the rally, he omitted others and he proceeded to defend the majority of the rally’s attendees," Notley said. “Torch rallies have been associated with some of the most heinous displays of racism in history and Albertans deserve a Premier who is unequivocal in condemning hate and racism.”
Torch rallies have also been associated with...anti-lockdown protests. Why is Rachel Arab so ignorant that she's unaware of this?

Also, the Edmonton anti-lockdown protests did have one other aspect that Denmark didn't, and that against Rachel Arab and her evil allies didn't want you to know about: at the time, Pastor James Coates was recently incarcerated, and several anti-lockdown protesters also marched from the Legislature Grounds (97 Ave and 107 St) to the now-empty former Remand Centre (104 Avenue and 97 Street) which meant walking down Jasper Avenue (which is where the torches sparked so much ignorant outrage). What was the name of that protest march? The Jericho Freedom March. So why torches? The Battle of Jericho has many parallels to Gideon's battle against the Midianites, and one of the key pieces of iconography of that battle was the torches:
And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.

And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.

When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.

And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon
We all know the godless NDP aren't too up on their Judges, but was it too hard for them to spend ten minutes researching the posters for the Jericho March to find out what the torches are a symbol of? To wit, the rallying cry to march to the defense of their Christian brother who had been imprisoned.

Naturally of course the far-left media were quick to denounce Kenney and the UCP (and later City of Edmonton police) for not denouncing "racial hatred" or whatever, because it's always Year Zero to these people and the use of torches in a protest began in Charlottesville in 2017.
