"they passed in thought out to regions where pain and delight flow together and tears are the very wine of blessedness"

Kyle and Dan at The Babylon Bee have started to read the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy:

Hey gang,

The Babylon Bee is launching a new podcast. Have you ever read J.R.R. Tolkien's classic The Lord Of The Rings? What's that? You've only seen the movies? Well, this is your chance to actually read the epic tale alongside editor-in-chief Kyle and producer Dan from The Babylon Bee. We are going to be heading on a journey through Middle-Earth roughly a chapter at a time.

You can follow along with all of the episodes on their podcast page. Sometimes it's just Kyle and Dan, they have also had guests such as Jonathan Watson from TheOneRing.com (not TheOneRing.net, the fansite from 1999 that rumour has it ended up getting bought out by WarnerBros). Based on the one chapter a week that started in late December, and presuming they will do the appendices over one or two episodes they won't finish the book until March 2022.

They don't actually read the books, this isn't an audiobook. Instead they discuss the themes, the differences from the movies, a few of the passages they like, and then quickly wrap it up before going to the subscriber portion (which, if you try binge-listening to Babylon Bee podcasts, you get tired of very very very quickly).

Update, 6:52pm: The latest episode ends with them announcing they will doing two chapters next week (even though "Shortcut to Mushrooms", the most recently done chapter, is the book's shortest). It's unclear if this will be the new policy going forward, in which case the book will be finished long ahead of March.
