SEOUL, South Korea — U.S. officials, on the heels of confirming Monday that North Korea did indeed test a nuclear device, believe Pyongyang is planning more tests, and soon.
Officials told FOX News that the first test, conducted Oct. 9, was "more of a fizzle than a pop," and that the North Koreans feel the need to prove they can successfully detonate a nuclear weapon.
"It would not be unreasonable to assume the North Koreans are planning a second test," White House press secretary Tony Snow said Tuesday.
Yeah, this is about all we need. It doesn't sound like there's much evidence for a second test. I mean, obviously North Korea wants the second test to be more impressive, but there's no indication they're ready to test again so soon. After all, its not like they knew the first test would suck. Or would they? There are so many crackpot theories about this, I shall turn to the simplicity of Cake:
I bombed korea every night.
My engine sang into the salty sky.
I didnt know if I would live or die.
I bombed korea every night.
I bombed korea every night.
I bombed korea every night.
Red flowers bursting down below us.
Those people didnt even know us.
We didnt know if we would live or die.
We didnt know if it was wrong or right.
I bombed korea every night.
And so I sit here at this bar.
Im not a hero.
Im not a movie star.
Ive got my beer.
Ive got my stories to tell,
But they wont tell you what its like in hell.
Red flowers bursting down below us.
Those people didnt even know us.
We didnt know if we would live or die.
We didnt know if it was wrong or right.
We didnt know if we would live or die.
I bombed korea every night.
Update, October 18 2006 3:19am: It was too good to be true. The Houston Chronicle (amoung others) is reporting that Satellite images indicate North Korea appears to be getting ready for a second nuclear test
