Jackie Chan

Cultural differences can be a killer. This is why this story about Jackie Chan hurts the brain so much.

It seems that a recent "parliamentary" session will feature Chan (he's been part of the assembly apparently as payback to get his movies endorsed to 1.2 billion possible audience members), and to show their satisfaction with the ruling body they have been...endlessly playing an old commercial where he made the sound "duang".

What does "duang" mean in Chinese? Special effects, apparently, though it seems to make no difference to the meme in question. He said "duang" once, so people are making mashups of it over and over to show they're upset that the organization that Chan is in is meeting ineffectually.

How does that work? Beats me. I wonder if China gets #PrenticeBlamesAlbertans.
