EDMONTON — A man connected to a 2005 stabbing death in Edmonton was killed in Red Deer early Sunday.
Brandon Prevey, 29, was found dead just after 3 a.m. in a car parked in an upscale southeast Red Deer neighbourhood. Witnesses told police that shortly after shots were heard, a small black car was seen speeding away.
“This crime is very unusual for us in the city of Red Deer,” said RCMP Const. Sabrina Grunow.
Investigators say the death appears to be drug and gang related.
Grunow said Prevey had recently moved from Edmonton to Red Deer. He was known to police.
Prevey and another man, Steven Anthony Pillon, were previously charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Kenyon Joseph Gardiner.
Steven Anthony Pillon... does that name ring any bells? It should: he was charged in connection with a murder in Sherwood Park.
Later he was involved in a shooting on Argyll Road, where his girlfriend Lily Tran was killed. This is where I come in: I broke the story of her death ahead of the newspapers, and even scooped in on the Pillon angle. Lily Tran's photo entry is still one of my most commented threads.
Pillon is still alive, of course: its only people dumb enough to associate with him who die. Prevey is apparently the latest. Both he and Pillon were never charged in the Sherwood Park murder since the Crown couldn't prove who was responsible. Both men got weapons offenses, and in January 2007 Pillon was sentenced to a year in jail.

EDMONTON - A man with a long history with guns on Edmonton streets has again been arrested and charged.
Steven Anthony Pillon, 24, was charged today with weapons-related offences after several shots were fired at the Canadian Brewhouse on Sunday night.
Police spokeswoman Karen Carlson said police responded to the Canadian Brewhouse near 111st Avenue and 156th Street around 11:45 p.m. Sunday.No word yet on whether or not Pillon was out of jail at the time of this latest killing.
Someone left the brewhouse and fired several shots from a handgun at the building and into a Cadillac Escalade parked nearby.
When police arrived they saw a man leave the brewhouse with a woman and toss a package into nearby dumpster.
Police stopped the car a short time later and arrested the male occupant. They also retrieved the package, which police said was a handgun.
Pillon has been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm contrary to order, careless use or storage of a firearm, conveying a concealed weapon, unauthorized use of a prohibited weapon, knowingly possessing an unauthorized weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public.

Get the facts staight ok "Sherwood Park murder" did never happen. It happened in west Edmonton - Prevey and Pillon murdered Kenyon Joesph Gardiner and served 1 year in jail. Its called karma and Prevey had it coming. Too bad they werent together the night Prevey died mabey he could have took Pillon to hell too!

Looks like we don't require me to be God to make any educated guesses on this case: Brandon is most certainly not in heaven. You "knowing" he is most certainly is the funniest thing I've read about today. Prevey was a gangster. He was an evil and wicked man, and that's what caused his death. Much as I wrote regarding Tran, Prevey isn't a victim. He shouldn't even be counted as murdered: it should be listed in the books as a workplace fatality.

I have been sitting here for the past hour and a half going over this page and re reading these posts. It has taken alot to gather up the strength to finally write something...and as i do tears are brought to my eyes.
I was Brandon's girlfriend for the last 5 years but above and beyond that, I am the mother of his 9 month old baby girl. I'm sure it is very easy for all of you to say what you say without any emotion attached. But for my daughter and I, this is not the case. Yes, you can say to me that I knew what Brandon's life was like, so I should have expected this to happen. But that does not make it any easier to cope with the pain of losing someone you love and furthermore does not help me explain to my daughter that her daddy is dead. I dont expect you to understand or comprehend this...all our family wants is to be at peace. Brandon died on April 5, 2009 and it has taken until today, April 20, 2009 for me to gather the strength to search his name because i knew exactly what i would find, and that is this. Brandon was a son, a brother, an uncle, and most importantly a father..and his daughter loved him as he did her. It is not fair for anyone to pass judgement on Brandon's life, as there is a family left behind who had nothing to do with that, who are hurting more than anyone will ever understand...most importantly my daughter.
Im not sure if anyone in this forum has children but whether you do or you dont, i welcome you to sit down with my daughter, look her in her innocent eyes and say to her what you have said in here. My daughter will never see her father again and there is no easy way for me to explain that to her, so if anyone of you would like to help me, please do so. Tell her her dad was a goof, tell her her dad was a faggot, tell her her dad was evil and tell her he deserved to die. If you can do that and go to sleep at night, I applaud you because for myself and the rest of my family, sleep is a distant memory.
If you would like to comment back to me with hurtful words, facts, or what you believe is just telling me the truth...it will be nothing i havent heard before and there are no words that can hurt me further than i already am. Everytime I saw Commando he would say "look at my baby..I know everyone says their baby is so cute, but mine actually is" and he would show he his phone with his beautiful baby girl on the screen.
So please have some respect for his family. Yes his daughter will someday find about her daddy's life, but really would you like to search your fathers name and for this thread to be pulled up. no.
Brandon was not how the press made him out to be, definately not around me and my friends...ya he did what he did, but he was not a mean person and he would do anything for anyone he cared about.

To his friends and family he may very well have been that warm and wonderful, generous and loving person, that was the face he chose for them. The face he chose when Kenyon was viciously taken from is far different. It was a nite that will NEVER leave me... Brandon has forced that memory upon me.. he chose his actions he was NOT a victim of circumstance on that fateful nite. He knew exactly what he was doing and what the consequences were. Brandon Prevey is a loser. He got what was coming to him. He disrupted so many peoples lives, and also ended or tried to end so many peoples lives. He must have known that people were after him. That is probably why he was trying to hide in Red Deer. Ya, he was a nice guy to a selective number of people, but those are the people that only knew what he wanted them to know. On the flip side he was a killer, and that is evile. He was a two faced asshole. Very stubborn and easily influenced. He was a pawn in this game we call life.
